160 YEARS YOUNG: TAG HEUER STARTS A ROUND ANNIVERSARY WITH THE NEW EDITION OF A HEUER CARRERA HIGHLIGHT
To mark this special anniversary, the Swiss luxury watchmaker introduces the Tag Heuer Replica Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition – featuring a 1960s design powered by 21st century watchmaking innovation.
La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – January 15, 2020: In 1860, TAG Heuer – known at the time as Heuer – was founded by Edouard Heuer in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Much has changed in the last 160 years, but the brand’s commitment to innovation and the development of cutting-edge watchmaking creations has remained constant. A collection that will receive special attention this year is the TAG Heuer Carrera product line, which includes the brand’s most elegant chronographs: icons of watches that have reflected the racing heritage and the bold spirit of the brand since its launch almost 60 years ago have worn for decades.
To kick off a year full of honors and celebrations, TAG Heuer presents a TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition, of which only 1,860 pieces will be produced. It will be available to customers worldwide from June 2020.
Celebrate with the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition
In 1962, then-CEO Jack Heuer heard the story of the legendary Carrera Panamericana, one of the most treacherous road races in the world. The word “carrera,” which means road, race, career and track in Spanish, caught his attention: he knew immediately that this would be the perfect name for a new watch. The following year the first Heuer Carrera chronographs left the factory.
As a lover of modern and clean design, Jack Heuer aimed for a pure and well-proportioned aesthetic for the Heuer Carrera Chronograph – characteristics that make the watch perfect for racers who need to see the time at a glance during adrenaline-fueled races. The famous monochrome silver dial model from 1964 with its three azure counters and silver aureole dial is a first-class choice to celebrate the brand’s 160th anniversary. This model, often referred to as the «2447S», is now being reintroduced with some 21st century updates.
