In 1953, Breitling Replica launched its Ref. 765 AVI, a pilot’s watch (AVI stood for “Aviation”), also known as the “Co-Pilot”. It had a particularly striking design with a rotating bezel and oversized Arabic numerals, and its impressive legibility made it a favorite among pilots. Breitling honors the legacy of this classic chronograph with the AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition.
The new AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is a carefully developed and manufactured new edition of the legendary Co-Pilot and is based on one of the early models from that year. The Co-Pilot was a 1950s interpretation of the on-board clocks designed and manufactured by Breitling’s Huit Aviation Department in the 1930s and 1940s, which already served as inspiration for the watches in the Aviator 8 collection.
The new watch is the perfect complement to another Breitling icon: the Navitimer with its famous circular slide rule made a name for itself in course calculations, while the Co-Pilot, with its excellent readability and robust construction, was particularly valued as a reliable companion to meet the challenges of Flight activities can cope with even the most extreme conditions.
The Breitling AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition
The AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is the brand’s second historical new edition. The first, the Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition, was one of the most popular new releases of 2019 – and the new model will follow suit. Georges Kern knows that the new model will be just as enthusiastically received as the previous new edition: “It was always clear to us that long-time Breitling fans would respond very positively to these watches. But it’s also exciting to see how these watches appeal to people who have recently found our brand – they can take a look at a new edition and see how much living history, innovation and cool luxury we have packed into one can only pack a watch.
