However, the coronavirus-related cancellation of Baselworld 2020 has unmasked all of the business failures of the MCH trade fair management in recent years, and the subsequent divorce war between the trade fair management and Rolex & Co. actually put a big question mark behind the Rolex innovations in 2020. Ultimately, Rolex also had other problems: Production in Geneva came to a standstill for two months due to COVID-19.

Despite all the odds: the Rolex Submariner received a visual and technical update in 2020, after eight years. As is typical of Rolex, the Geneva-based company relies on evolution rather than revolution: the basic design of the Submariner has essentially not been changed and is still very close to the original design of the Submariner from the 1950s (the careful model update is certainly a factor essential factor in Rolex’s secret of success).
